The immense white marble courtyard reflected a brilliant rectangle of light that washed over the twenty four striated stone columns spread throughout the area, eight at the right end, eight at the left end, and four at either of shorter ends.. At the exact center of Hadrian's Court, a deep set of silver runes remained scored into the ground, gleaming lines against purest white with neither rhyme nor reason as to their purpose. The Court was surrounded by a larger rectangle of manicured grass, awash with the muted symphony of gently blowing winds, and with a simple North-South, East-West pair of roads leading away from the area.. People milled about, sounds and snippets of conversation mixing with the chirping of birds, and just beyond the high vaulted gates, the rest of the city hustle and bustle.

Trees rustled, a few old leaves shaking loose under the soft breath of wind, and they fell in a short spray of brown vegetation as the lone young man entered the park by the east entrance. He was dressed warmly beneath his clean black greatcoat, the typical charcoal suit and vest visible when the breeze parted his lapels. A scarlet tie, of silk that glowed like living flame in the sunlight, was snugly around his neck in the crisp Windsor knot he usually preferred. The merest hint of a Terran Guard tie clip protruded from the top of his vest, the only reminder of his chosen vocation in sight.

His gray blue eyes swept across the park, casually searching his surroundings for the presence of an available seat. Angelo's vision was sharp, though, as expected of a half avian, not sharper than the more gifted of his winged species. Truthfully, he just wanted a walk. Something to do to get his mind off work. This seemed like an adequate diversion.

It wasn't very often that the stormcaller was given a free day. Seinshun almost jumped at the chance to be normal. Although what was normal in this day and age? He had been trained for a war that ended only a few years after joining the front lines. There was always the cargo convoys. They always needed protection details, but fewer and fewer raids had been occurring. Somewhat hard to hijack a caravan thirty thousand miles above the surface of the Earth.

The battlemage felt oddly naked without his Auroral battle armor. Then again, he just about was in only a pair of carpenter jeans and a square cut tank shirt. It was the athletic kind with the narrow back so as to fit his wings. The shoulders and sides were velcro-ed for easy removal and putting on. Seinshun hated having to get clothes in non-Avian cities. They were functional but just odd looking.

Seinshun came in from the north entrance. The grass looked inviting, so he took a step onto it. He was careful not to let his foot talons puncture the soil and rip it up. People went about their business. Some, humans included, were like him and strode about barefoot in the park. There was just something about feeling Terra between one's toes that made the connection even stronger. He laughed at the humans that tried to imitate the songs of the birds in the trees.

If only they knew what they were really saying.

One looked like he did. It was hard to mistake the wings of another Avian in the court. The young man about his own age was completely decked out in human formal wear. Flight would still be possible, but it still looked restrictive. Personally, Seinshun didn't like any clothing that would limit his range of motion. But he was a soldier. Sunlight glinted off the tie tack. Anyone else would have shied away, but Seinshun employed the same trick in battle and trained himself not to be blinded so easily.

{Terran Guard. Interesting. I was not aware any brothers were stationed here.}

Seinshun made his way over to his half-cousin. He stopped and gave the traditional greeting, both hands crossed over his chest with the thumbs hooked together. It looked like a shadow puppet of a bird in flight.

"Greetings, Brother," he said in the native Avian tongue. It sounded a bit like Elven with a lot more bird call to it.

The day was, by and large, a good one. He smiled, closing his eyes as a gust of wind blustered by, bringing with it the sweet smells of clean grass and more than a little of the wafting scent of whatever rich delicacy the gray haired woman behind a busy stall was selling. It was then he heard a familiar sounding voice speak in the Avian tongue. The words he could understand fairly easily, but speaking it, however, was another. His blue gray eyes opened slowly, and his gaze ascended to the tall man standing there with the immense wings of an Avian. Angelo quickly returned the traditional greeting, though his hands were still unused to doing it, and he was assured that that alone would say more for his connection to the Avians than his words ever could describe.

"Greetings. I apologize, but, I never learned how to speak your tongue very well. You are familiar to me, but I cannot place exactly where I've seen you before." He was polite, though not overly cordial and stiff. AJ normally avoided having conversations with his own kind-- the topic invariably, inevitably, and unfortunately always returned to his wings. Most Avians expected him to want to have a connection to Celestis, to the native customs and language and way of life in some meaningful manner. Angelo could honestly say that he never once wanted to. Since he was engaged in another conversation with one of his half cousins, he instead smiled in the polite but nonplussed demeanor that came naturally to him, and prepared to have a familiar dialogue.

While he did such, his eyes quickly absorbed the minor details of the man. He was in superb shape, from the tips of the talons in his feet upwards. The choice of clothes seemed more for the practical advantages offered without the restrictions of standard "human clothes." Full Avian, as I suspected when he first introduced himself. Age, seems to be close to my own. For a moment, he wondered if the tie clip had failed to divert potential conversationalists. Of course, where the Terran Guard insignia failed, his wings would naturally pick up. At least the sunshine felt perfect where it hit his skin. Perhaps the greatest advantage to being only half an Avian was that he could operate almost as well in the nighttime as he could during the day while still being able to bask in the sunshine and feel the energy flowing in.

Grass.

A luxury. For the small slight little blonde girl, it was a luxury that she did not see often. The world was slowly rebuilding itself. Rock by rock, shivering and trembling in place as it created another place to last a millenia. As the sky faded back to the bright and vibrant blue that it had been ten years ago. As the trees began to grow. Starting as the tiniest of sprouts and finding their way to the sunlight that shimmered down like a large diamond in the sky. Warming her, warming them. Warming the people. The feet that trampled in the grass, the ability to walk on something was just so peaceful. To touch nature, to for a few moments of a day be one with such a thing. Magic. Pure magic, of this the young woman was certain.

For she herself had commandeered a spot of the grass. Not standing but sitting. Shoes, discarded to the side. The straps and loops of her shoes were not needed here where nature was so ready to cushion for you. Knees bent, slightly, just enough, that the journal that rested upon them was at the angle, the proper correct angle that she was able to write. Paper indenting with her pen. Her writing was small, tiny loops, and in perfect little letters. Filtered with notes. She was certain that no one would understand.

Seeing the world in music, was a gift that Kimber had. The young girl had from a young age taken to music. She let it tell her stories. She let it tell her emotions. Her feelings. It was the way that she spoke if anyone where interested enough to listen to the young blonde headed woman. She was slight, young, but lovely. Pink was her color. The one that she wore most often. The color that she felt represented her for the most part. Most people only saw the eternally shy woman, until music was at her finger tips. Most people never looked past.. or even into the notes that she could push out of an instrument since she could walk. People were short sighted. Today again, however, she was dressed in pink.

Kimber understood why Terra revolted.

Aren't you that girl? The one from the concert I heard about in Bastion?

Blue eyes, like a stormy sky. Looked up. Finding a woman standing there. With hope in her eyes. Kimber nodded. She could only assume so. For people that had not seen the concert fliers knew nothing of her. She was a prodigy, but she was shy. And it was hard to be silent and a musical prodigy. People wanted to get inside your head, and unless they had a sign language interpreter.. they could not get inside hers. The woman was about to say something else. When the wind blew.

A gust. A little more than the normal. Blew across her journal. A sheet, not the current one she was writing on. But one, from before. Carried out. On the wind. She was up. Grabbing her violin. Leaving her shoes where they lay in the grass as she rushed after it. She could not lose such a thing. Even if not everyone could read it. The fear was, that someone would be able to. And they would understand things. Things she did not want them to understand. Things she was not ready to explain.

As she ran. Her violin pounded into her side. Her shoes. She could get them later. For now, she was worried about her paper. Her fingers. Reaching out. Nearly grasped it. But instead.. it fell upon the shirt of two men. Talking to one another. One in a suit. The other more comfortable. Still. Kimber put the breaks on. Blue eyes stared at the men for a moment. And shifted to the paper. There it was. Notes and words showed to the world. She pointed, silently, blush coloring her face as deep as the pink of the clothes that she wore.

Hands fumbled with the return gesture.

"Greetings. I apologize, but, I never learned how to speak your tongue very well. You are familiar to me, but I cannot place exactly where I've seen you before."

{My language. Isn't it not yours too?}

Then it dawned on Seinshun. The Avian before him must not, at the very least, have been raised in Celestis. Seinshun had heard of a few hatchlings in the battlefields, but those incidents were incredibly rare. Avians were extremely protective of their young and would never risk the partum period outside the city walls except for the most dire of circumstances.

Unless the Guardsman was not a full blooded Avian. Theoretically, it was possible for the two races to interbreed. Avian physiology was still vastly different from even the Other races that a successful union might not produce viable offspring. Angelo certainly had a unique heritage, as did Seinshun who was born to parents of differing Spheres.

"I was here in Librium some time ago on business for Celestis," Seinshun said in English. All Avians switched to the local language whenever they were abroad. It was only polite to adapt to their customs. "Perhaps you saw me out and about."

Chances were Angelo had read the report regarding the bombing of Dr. Kuniyah's apartment complex. Seinshun didn't know if that report circulated throughout the entire Guard or not. He picked up on the Guard checking him out. The soldier in him only repeated the gesture.

{How does one fly in that? It does seem tailored to his body. Perhaps that suit is not as restrictive as it appears. The cloth around his neck looks uncomfortable, but the color reminds me of home. Evening sunlight bouncing off the reflection panels under Celestis.}

The reflection panels were glorified mirrors. They helped mask the city from terrestrial view and also collected the last bit of the sun's rays for power generation.

A piece of paper plastered itself to Seinshun's side. He peeled it off and recognized it as sheet music. The stormcaller smiled when he saw the notes, silently playing it in his head. Music was its own language and the Avians knew every one. A blonde girl pointed to the sheets.

"Here you are," he said to Kimber.

"That might be why you seem familiar," Angelo replied with a token smile. It clicked for him a second later. Celestis. He had seen this man in the city of the Avians not too long ago. That, however, was on Terran Guard business. He was here to get away from that, and in reality, the potential for a normal conversation was beginning to appeal to him. "Could I offer you a seat?" he asked, shifting over some. It was the polite thing to do.

A gust blew across his face and his ears detected the sound of paper flapping in the wind. He glanced in the direction of the sound, only to see a thin white piece of the material slap onto the broad chest of the other Avian. "Weird. This park isn't known for having a lot of litter." He looked around, glancing to see anyone that was running after it. Of course, in his experience, humans cared too little about the impacts of their actions. It was entirely possible that there would be nobody looking for it.

He was wrong. A young girl appeared, so quiet that he didn't see her until she was there, pointing at the paper on the Avian's chest. The pink she had on made her stand out, once his blue gray eyes actually registered her as an entity.

Men.

Men.

There were men. Two of them. Tall, large, men. It wasn't as though, she had not seen larger, there were some, that were.. huge. Massive. But these were still rather large. The young blonde girl stopped. Dead in her tracks nearly having to back pedal a bit so that she didn't run into one or the other. There they were. For all the world to see, staring at her. almost curiously.

There, the paper. There it was. In the hands of one. Tall. Blonde. She supposed he might look nice. But her heart was doing a heck of a job freaking out in a little dance within her chest for her to be all that worried about whether one or the other had anything on looks. She pointed. Easy to understand. The paper, those notes, those words, they were hers.

No right! No right to read them, but he had, she could tell. What she did not understand .. was if he knew what it was, what it meant, the sounds that she had melded together there on the page. Gently, with shaking fingers she took the paper, back to herself. Opening her book. It was filled, nearly completely, with pages and pages of notes and words, doodles, and thoughts, each page was thicker for all the writing and the book no longer closed fully anymore the way it had when it was new.

She gave a bow.

Slight, but it was there. Blonde hair was loose, and falling around her shoulders as she did this. She felt that this, maybe, was a good way to say thank you, since she could not speak. She was almost trembling. men. It was not as though one had ever really hurt her. She was merely shy, men had no patience and that was something that she tended to need an abundance of. They tended to be harsh, or to try to force her to speak, thinking she was merely shy but she was not. Still, the girl blushed as she straightened herself and made sure that she had all of her pages within her journal. No snese in having to run after another.

"That might be why you seem familiar," Angelo replied with a token smile.

"You couldn't miss me," Seinshun smiled back. "I am rather shiny in my uniform. I probably blinded you." His Auroral armor currently was locked up in the tree fort Celestis had set up on the edge of the city for visiting Avian emissaries.

Angelo scooted over on the bench. "Could I offer you a seat?"

"Thank you," Seinshun replied. He was given the day off, and the bench would offer a good vantage point of the city's sights from the ground. It beat his usual fly by view from overhead. But that's when the gust added to his wardrobe.

"Weird. This park isn't known for having a lot of litter," his new friend said as he looked for the violator.

The blonde pulled up just before crashing into them. It wouldn't have been the first time a human female had hoped to cop a feel of the muscle-bound battlemage. Kimber looked too startled to have been a lusty tweeniebopper. She was cute for a human. Too much pink though for Seinshun's taste.

Kimber pointed at the sheet music and back to herself. Seinshun understood the gist of the gestures. It was hers. "Here you are," he said as he handed it back. She stuffed the tree product into a book full of other doodles. Then she bowed.

Seinshun returned with a bow of his head a smile. Unlike humans, his people did have patience (for the most part). It was part of the reason why the Avians were so late in joining the Great Conflagration. Although they mainly saw themselves as uninvolved, much like the United States of America did before Japan attacked the port of Pearl Harbor. A similar incident directed against Celestis had caused its denizens to retaliate in full force.

But that was in the past. Celestis depended on peaceful coexistence with the groundwalkers if it was to ever retake its proper place in the sky. Pretty in Pinks included.

"I'll say," he agreed, smirking at his newfound acquaintance's pleasantly active sense of humor. "Didn't quite blind me, but I can't say the same for the people around me. How are things in Celestis these days?" Angelo inquired, starting to rise to the occasion of having a normal conversation with the Avian.

He glanced to the young woman that appeared silent, as if life had pressed the mute button on her entire existence. While Angelo liked to go about his business in a fairly unobtrusive manner until, at some clearly indicated point, he was required to be a little flashier, she seemed to be entirely that. The loudest part of her was perhaps the choice of clothing she wore. I don't think I've ever seen that much pink on a person before. He smiled genuinely at that. She was blond, of average height, and her blue eyes were rather attractive. And she's very polite, even if she doesn't seem to want to speak, he added mentally, as she bowed.

AJ found it a little strange that she didn't choose to say thank you to the Avian as he returned her sheet of paper, but given his own status as one who didn't quite fit in either of his parents' worlds, he made the choice not to judge her based solely upon that one factor. "Hi there. Do you draw often?" he asked, having noticed some of the doodles scattered throughout the pages of her book when she opened it. Angelo liked those who drew, though the exact reason why he never really bothered to discover. His father did landscapes, occasionally, but beyond that there was little artistic history to his background.

"By the way, I think we've managed to skip the introductions portion of having a conversation. My name is Angelo. May I ask your own?" he inquired to the Avian, using a formal tone to avoid offending him inadvertently. "And would you, miss, like to have a seat?" AJ asked again, rising from his position there and sweeping a hand at the empty space. He had been raised with the ideals of chivalry, and there was no more precise manner to display it than by offering the lady a seat as well. He could stand, after all, it mattered little.

Point of Divergence (Open) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Point of Divergence (Open)   Point of Divergence (Open) EmptySun May 20, 2012 10:48 pm

Leave.

That was the best option. Turn, before they could realize. Walk before they could call. Tease, or hurt. There were so many, so many times that.. one hurt her because they believed she was defective. Kimber did not see herself as such. But that did not mean others were kindly about it. In fact, it was very hard for the young girl. As much as her music career continued on, she knew that it was hard to keep herself going. People wanted interviews. They did not want to waste time with interpretors, and she grew impatient with some that always got her wording wrong. Using a simplistic word in place of one that she actually meant to use. Making her sound as though she was not as intelligent as she was.

It was hard when you could not be your own voice.

It was a dabilitating thing that the young blonde lived with. Day in and out. Letting other people speak for her when she needed to say something herself. Even her parents chose the easiest means of description. Sometimes it was easier to go unnoticed all together.

Before she could go though, the one in the suit spoke. Asking her if she drew often. The girl, half turned away from the man, slowly turned back. Foot pivoting her body in the grass. Blue eyes, soft as the sky looked over at him. She had a blush on her cheeks, lighter in hue than the colors on her clothing but of the same color as he asked her something that she doubted anyone else would have thought of. Of course, he had seen her book though, when she put her page away, but even still, the young blonde woman was surprised that he cared.

There, his friend, sitting patiently. They had been having a conversation, she was certain of it. So it surprised her that he cared enough to put his own conversation on hold to ask her a question. But she would not ignore him. She was not the sort. Kimber was kind, polite, and sweet. Almost to a fault. But even still, she was kind of eager for someone to know. Someone to know her. To care enough to wonder about her. To want to know what she was like, who she was, and most glazed her over caring nothing for the knowledge.

A nod.

It was simple, and yet it was the complete answer. But to elaborate, she gently opened her book and thumbed through the hundreds of pages filled with various things but mainly notes and words of music until she got to some of her drawings. Flowers, skies, angels, people, children, different things that caught her interest. Some where fantastic, with great detail, thought, and time. Some had color, most were in shades of grey, and some where not that great, there were some things she could draw, and some that she could not. Closing her book, she looked at the two men. Side by side on the bench.

Head tilted, hair fell across her face for a moment before she tucked the long silken locks behind her ear. Brothers. No. It was not quite that much similarity in the two but it was something. Perhaps the same region, race, .. something she could not put her finger on but they were similar in a way. But so different. Still, he surprised her further, looking to his friend, and giving his name. Angelo. She liked it. A small quirk of her lips showed her opinion of it and then he asked her name.

Flustered.

It was the only word she could come up with as her lips parted, as though she would speak before she clamped them back together. She couldn't. She couldn't make a single sound, and she knew it. Her body knew it, but that didn'st stop the reflex from happening anyway. Still though, she opened her book to the very first page, opposite the inner cover and there, was her name.

~Kimber~

Closing the book now that it had been read she was more surprised than ever when he jumped up from his seat on the bench, and offered it to her. Her blush deepend, to nearly the shade of her pink shirt as she slid past him and to the seat with a grateful nod in his direction as she sat there. Clasping her book in her hands. Wondering just how this was all going to work. Two men, was bad enough, but the one seemed to want to know her, and the young girl wasn't sure exactly how that was going to work without a lot of writing. She tore a piece of paper out of the back of her journal and lay it on the front. Picking up her pen, from the ribbon it was tied to she began to write in precise movements.

~Thank you, it is nice to meet you both.~

She blushed as she showed them both the paper. Like her music and her drawings her writing was artisitc and soft as well. With a flowing easily read script that spoke of a great deal of practice and precision.

"I'll say," Angelo said. "Didn't quite blind me, but I can't say the same for the people around me. How are things in Celestis these days?"

"The flooded sections have all been cleared out," Seinshun said excitedly. "And the structural integrity has been reinforced so we start on realigning the city. City North and True North do not coincide. I do not know when the Civic's Guild will be able to start working on the engines. But it's a great starting point."

*

"Hi there. Do you draw often?" Angelo asked their new conversation partner. "By the way, I think we've managed to skip the introductions portion of having a conversation. My name is Angelo. May I ask your own?" he inquired to the Avian, using a formal tone to avoid offending him inadvertently.

"Seinshun," the stormcaller replied.

"And would you, miss, like to have a seat?" AJ asked again, rising from his position there and sweeping a hand at the empty space.

Seinshun couldn't help but compare the newcomer to a startled deer in the forest. It was as if conversation was an alien thing to her. Coming from a people of talkers, it did not bother him one bit. She nodded and then displayed the first page of the book.

~Kimber~

{Hmm, a mute? Or is she just extremely shy.}

Kimber tore a piece of paper out of the back of her journal and laid it on the front. Picking up her pen, from the ribbon it was tied to she began to write in precise movements.

~Thank you, it is nice to meet you both.~

She blushed as she showed them both the paper. Definitely a mute then.

"Nice to meet you too," Seinshun said both verbally and in American sign language. He took a chance that perhaps she understood the gestures. If she did, he would have no qualm with translating for her.

Angelo grinned, the excitability of his conversational partner about the city growing infectious. His family there would no doubt be as happy, particularly since it would mean so much more for the city of Avians. "That's great news! I'm going to have to make another visit there, soon. Will there be any celebrations when the city's realigned?" he asked, mind wandering somewhat to whether he would attend. Part of him wanted to, but the other part felt as if that would be attempting to belong somewhere he didn't. The last time he tried that, a few knife wounds were surreptitiously added to his collection, most noticeably the one that ran like a thin line across his left cheek for an inch. Angelo nodded as the Avian gave his name. "Seinshun. Interesting name, though I think it fits you."

He was somewhat surprised when the girl in pink appeared to hesitate when he asked her name, her pause combined with a half turn away and then back to them. Her nod was quick, a blush setting in. That he noticed, and he couldn't help but chuckle softly. She was really, really shy. It was endearing in a way he couldn't quite place. He watched on, interest plain as she flipped through the pages of her book to the drawings she had done. They were good, far beyond what he could ever hope to accomplish. He caught the twitch of her lips at his name, and it made him smile.

Perhaps she'll actually say something now, he thought, at least until she made a movement like she was about to speak and then stopped. AJ realized it when she opened her book to reveal her name written there. If he had been anywhere else, in different company, he would have slapped himself in the face for not recognizing it sooner. She wasn't speaking because she couldn't. Angelo met her eyes with his own blue gray orbs, and he spoke gently. "Kimber. It's a pretty name, and it suits you very, very well," AJ said, tilting his head in a short version of her bow.

"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance," he replied, noting the characteristics of her handwriting with a gaze of curiosity. Hers was a far cry from his own angular cursive, which was sharp, noticeably tilted, and far narrower than her script was. The thought occurred that when he'd aimed to have a conversation, the universe had responded by providing two very different people to converse with. As he watched Seinshun sign and speak his own version of gratitude for having made her acquaintance, AJ wondered if he should try to learn the same. After all, if he was half Avian, then perhaps the gift for languages would be in his blood somewhere.

Seinshun.

A strange name. Angelic perhaps? No.. no angels did not exist. The blonde knew that. But the boy that sat on the bench beside her, certainly looked the part. She had never really cared much, one way or the other. Since she was a child with no voice boys had done nothing but pick on and ridicule her. She had grown used to it. Used to men being mean and nasty. Or as she got older, thinking her defective and not worth the time. Never worth the time. Unless there was music, because then she could capture hearts and ensnare the senses. But even still, it made no real difference. The music would come and go, but their opinions seemed concrete.

The suited one, complimented her on her name. A blush, pink as her shirt, the color of bright rose, tinted her pale cheeks. She ducked her head in thanks. There were many ways to communicate and Kimber had long since been capable of using non-verbal communications when she had to. She had not even been afraid to mime things when she could not get her point across or if she didn't have anything to write with.

Brows rose, quite quickly on her pale forehead when she saw the sign language. There were few that knew it. Several that at least had studied enough to get the alphabet down but spelling everythng took forever. Not to mentioned that she had to slow herself down a great deal. Being nearly native with the language she was fast and fluent. Hands flying and moving with a grace that only the natives could find themselves attatched to.

Yet still, this boy, man, beside her had flourished it out with confidence. She smiled. She could not help the warm feeling that came over her. She felt as though perhaps she could truly have a part in the conversation. Many times, she tended to excuse herself early, because the conversation would get away from her and by the time her hand quickly wrote down a reply it was time to discuss something else. A problem that she had frequently run into, in school.

You both look similar, are you brothers? Maybe? I cannot tell. It is a lovely day at the park I couldn't stay inside, it is inspirational to be outside in the fresh air.

Excited by the ability to actually speak to someone that would understand her with her hands, she had rushed forward with the conversation. She hoped that Seinshun would tell Angelo what she had said because she did not want to leave him out. Neither of them would be left out if she could help it. If it was easier if she wrote down and slowed the conversation for that, then she would. But if signing made it easier to communicate then she would follow with that train of thought. She was merely excited to have someone to talk to. Besides her parents.

"That's great news! I'm going to have to make another visit there, soon. Will there be any celebrations when the city's realigned?"

Seinshun missed his new comrade zone out of the conversation for the moment. He was too excited about the recent developments with Celestis. "Word has it the Civics plan to make the correction on the Summer Solstice. It's fitting the longest day of the year marks the first great milestone in the reconstruction process."

"Seinshun. Interesting name, though I think it fits you," Angelo said.

"It confuses the humans," Seinshun replied, forgetting Angelo's heritage. "They say it sounds Asian although I don't look Asian. Strangely, the word Caucasian doesn't mean people of Asian descent." He shrugged. "It's possible I hatched over the Pacific Ocean. Geographically speaking, I could be Asian."

==Kimber's arrivial==

Kimber. It's a pretty name, and it suits you very, very well," AJ said, tilting his head in a short version of her bow. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance."

Seinshun stated and signed the same. Kimber perked at the sight of sign language. She finally looked comfortable after recovering from her blush.

You both look similar, are you brothers? Maybe? I cannot tell. It is a lovely day at the park I couldn't stay inside, it is inspirational to be outside in the fresh air.

{Wow, she's fast. Good thing I have a sharp eye. Wait, brothers?}

Seinshun scanned Angelo head to toe. They did have similar facial structure. His hands made the fingering as his mouth did the translation.

"Kimber thinks we look similar and wonders if we are brothers. She also said it so lovely in the park and that she couldn't stay inside. It is inspirational to be outside in the fresh air." He looked back at Kimber. "We only just met. Although it is possible we are relations. And yes, today is perfect to be in the park. I don't often get to go for a stroll. Does your muse live in the park?"

He knew many artists had a favorite place to practice their crafts. This looked like the perfect place in the concrete jungle of the Treaty City.

==Kimber: Seinshun will translate whatever Angelo says. That way, we don't waste a round of posting just for me to say "Seinshun signed ____"==

"And it's also quite astute of them to place the celebration on the longest day of the year. Very fitting indeed when one considers that the hardest step of any journey is supposed;y the most difficult," Angelo remarked, mulling over the particularly well chosen date in his head. He was most likely free that day, and the option to witness such a momentous occasion was not lost on his thoughts. However, yet again he railed against the notion of having a reason to go back to the city of his mother's people. Their kinship usually only brought him trouble, and he was loath to get into an argument within the city of the sky dwellers due to his dual heritage.

"Perhaps I'll visit then," he added, after a brief but discernible pause. Fortunately, Seinshun seemed not to notice, and kept on his line of conversation to the source of confusion with his name. AJ laughed softly, shaking his head. "Well, in their defense, it does sound rather like an Asian name. However, it's on them for being confused, as you must never judge a book by it's cover-- let alone the title it bears" AJ quipped, using a deliberately sage and prophetic manner for comedic effect. "Or something like that. I never did pay much attention in class when they discussed things like that." It wasn't exactly an untruth, though it was certainly not the whole truth. He only pretended not to pay attention-- the natural drive to observe and analyze held strong in him,

He returned his attention to the young woman in pink, as she blushed at his compliment. Either she's not very used to receiving them, or she's quite shy, he noted, the selfsame tendency to pick apart people and their quirks taking center stage in his mind. Out of the corner of his eye, he picked up Seinshun's hands swiftly forming what had to be some form of return in sign language, fingers deft and fluid as they formed words from seemingly thin air. He tried, for the first few seconds, to intuit the basic gist of what the full Avian was saying, but he was swiftly lost in the flurry of motions. A pang of what could be described as mild envy slipped into his chest. Avians, from his experiences, were by and large intrepid communicators across the board. This one, in particular, had a natural level of skill with it that Angelo almost wished for a moment that he had been raised in Celestis, and had a chance to learn some of those languages, even if he would likely not be so adroit as Seinshun in expressing himself. It lingered for a moment, and vanished, replaced with a none too subtle sense of awe as Kimber seemed to answer in kind.

These two, I'm not sure I'd actually be able to keep up, he mused, considering taking the swiftest path out of the conversation so that the two could chat undisturbed by his presence. A presence which, at this point, felt particularly extraneous to the conversation at large. He listened carefully as Seinshun began to translate-- something AJ was more or less grateful for-- and the irony of the first sentence hit like a freight truck. Angelo laughed, tossing his head back. "I'm sorry," he explained, leaning forward. "We're not brothers, though I'll concede that we're part of a brotherhood of those who defend the innocent. That's more figurative than literal, but, it's something. That, and we're both winged ones." He smiled, taking a glance back across the park as Seinshun mentioned the park in the translation. "I can see why. This place is certainly gorgeous during this time of year, and it'd inspire some pretty interesting artistic creations, I wager," AJ stated, giving a slight shrug for effect.

It was.. nice. Refreshing. Elating. For Kimber to finally be able to talk to people. For someone to understand her so easily. It was a relief. She did not want to have the man that stood up in the suit feel left out though. He did not know sign, but that was not his fault. She would be more than willing to teach him if he was even the slightest bit interested. But she did not want to force him either. She knew what it was like to be forced into something.

There were times she remembered the horror. The horror of all the doctors that tried, tried so desperatly to get her to talk. Believing, for sure, that she was merely doing this on purpose. She was doing this to get attention. Perhaps doing this because she needed something, some kind of fulfillment. But regardless, they tried various methods to get her to talk. Before she was sent into a specialist and it was realized, that the silence was beyond her control.

They were not brothers.

Kimber listened to Angelo, her head tilted to the side. Engrossed in the tenor of his voice, and the way that he spoke. He had an eloquent quality to him. She liked it. The way he used vocabulary, well read, well schooled, she liked that. Too many, these days, were the kind that did not care one way or the other what they sounded like. Or what school had still to offer them. Kimber had been home schooled in her life, and even now, still strove to learn new things.

Did her muse live in the park?

Kimber's eyes shifted looking at the park. The people. They walked, they talked, the laughed and played. Throwing balls, running, and picking flowers. The warm summer heat on the soft grass warmed the feet of those that were just enjoying a day that was not too warm. But even still, she had to admit... it did not live here.

She turned back to the two men.

Needed no sign language for what she was about to say. She shook her head no. And touched her chest, right over where her heart was. Her muse, was internal. It was inspiration that came from beautiful places like this.

What do you two do? What brings you to the park?

"And it's also quite astute of them to place the celebration on the longest day of the year. Very fitting indeed when one considers that the hardest step of any journey is supposed;y the most difficult," Angelo remarked.

"Not only are we physically closer to the sun and the moon," Seinshun replied, "but we feel personally connected to them. If we can just get through the longest day of the year on the ground, maybe we can spend the longest night to get above the clouds."

That was a long shot of a dream. But Terra willing, it would be done.

"Perhaps I'll visit then," Angelo added, after a brief but discernible pause. Seinshun didn't notice and kept on his line of conversation to the source of confusion with his name. AJ laughed softly, shaking his head. "Well, in their defense, it does sound rather like an Asian name. However, it's on them for being confused, as you must never judge a book by it's cover-- let alone the title it bears" AJ quipped. "Or something like that. I never did pay much attention in class when they discussed things like that."

Seinshun shrugged it off. "There are so many idioms, it is hard to keep track. I'm lucky if I can translate them fast enough to understand. I'm not exactly a politician." His build should have given that away. Although, Parun Garen was pretty fit for a Messenger.

"I'm sorry," AJ explained, while Seinshun signed (not realizing Kimber could hear) "We're not brothers, though I'll concede that we're part of a brotherhood of those who defend the innocent. That's more figurative than literal, but, it's something. That, and we're both winged ones. "I can see why. This place is certainly gorgeous during this time of year, and it'd inspire some pretty interesting artistic creations, I wager,"

The left corner of Seinshun's mouth curled up in a smirk as Kimber shook her her head and touched her chest. He liked this girl. He was a fighter first, but she was clever in her forms of communication. Some of the playwrights back home could learn a thing or two from her.

"What do you two do? What brings you to the park?" she asked.

"The Flares don't need me today," Seinshun replied both verbally and with gestrures. "So I'm taking in the sights of the city from the ground for once."
